Covid-19 and Global Transformation—We Are “No Longer In Kansas!” Part IV

The global battle with Covid-19 seems to be another layer or wedge added to the growing polarity (socially, economically, politically) so evident in the world today.

Metaphorically, Covid-19 can be thought of as an infection of mind brought on by the contagion of fear, whipped into a frenzy by the polarity of sides taken: Democrat/Republican, Globalist/Nationalist, Pro-Trump/Anti-Trump, Pro Vaccine/Anti-Vaccine, etc. etc….and it is so seductive to focus upon, engage with and “take-a-stand” somewhere along that spectrum of polarity!

It is one thing to stay informed about all that is going on in the world, but certainly another thing when the news (and its polarity-creating sensationalism) whips up the emotions, creating reactions of fear, anger, blame, panic, etc.

As I mentioned in the previous post, besides the intense polarity that is going on in the world, there also seems to be an undercurrent of subtle vibrations that are moving through the Earth at this time.

These “subtle vibrations” can be felt in sharp contrast with the polarity that is raging in the world. For me, connecting with this underlying current is like remaining in the “eye-of-the-storm,” where the mind and emotions remain quiet, unperturbed by the “storm” of polarity raging all around.

The point that I am making here is that, during these outwardly tumultuous times, brought on by the threat of Covid-19, humanity as a whole has an unprecedented opportunity to connect with and feel the exquisitely subtle and yet transformative underlying currents of the Primal Bliss Resonance.

In my opinion, the intensity of the polarity storm has made it easier to viscerally access our “center,” the “eye-of-the-storm” where body, mind, spirit remain focused, still…held in resonance with the Bliss Vibration.

All that is required is to feel deeply into your center. The Bliss Resonance is strong during this time and can be connected with more readily if you make up your mind to disengage with polarity (of blaming, shaming, judging, etc.).

Polarity is strong, seductive, enticing and the mind and life force can easily succumb to its siren call…if we allow it to. Just understand that there is another “Voice” that is making itself known to you right alongside the crude belching of polarity. This other “Voice” is an upwelling of the Bliss Resonance calling you home to center!

Reverberations of the Underlying Bliss Resonance, Part X

As mentioned in the previous post, the Bliss Resonance in the body starts as a subtle vibration in the spine (small like a grain of sand). It is not difficult to feel. It just requires a slight shift in how we normally “feel” into our bodies.

Normally we do not think about or consider the “overall” sensation of the body. In other words, feeling into all vibrations of the body as one resonance of sensation, one resonance of Being.

The human body and consciousness is exquisitely sensitive! This is amply confirmed by the depth of emotions and sensitivities we have to circumstances and environments. The suggestion here is to use the sensitivities (and sometimes over-sensitivities) that you already have and focus them within on finer and finer subtleties of vibrations, especially as can be felt in the central core of the spine.

Again, the Bliss Resonance is not difficult to experience! It just requires using the sensitivity that is already there and focusing it within on finer and finer vibrations…going slightly deeper, and then slightly deeper again, etc.

Surrendering to the Cosmic Dance, Part XV

There are many subtle sensations connected with the breath. For example, take a deep breath, exhale and keep the breath out until you begin to feel a slight discomfort. Breathe in deeply and feel the relaxation and relief that comes over the body.

Notice that the visceral experience of relaxation and relief can be followed deep into what may feel like the areas of the gut and spine. Understand that the whole purpose of this exercise is to connect you with finer and finer waves of sensations…which, through resonance, connects you with the underlying and primal Bliss Vibration!

As you begin to tune into and familiarize yourself with the inward focus on these subtle sensations, you may first notice gut feelings, intestinal sensations, perhaps similar to giddiness.

As you continue to deeply feel into these pulsating, shivering vibrations, they will guide you to what feels like an exquisitely fine “thread” of sensations vibrating deliciously in the centermost channel of the spine!

Surrendering to the Cosmic Dance, Part XIV

There are so many “entry points” for connecting/feeling into subtle energies sourced in the central core of the body (especially in the spine). Once you notice and acknowledge that you can and are able to direct and hold your attention on finer and finer sensations, then you will be surprised at how close and accessible these subtle energies have always been.

You will understand that there are no insignificant sensations, for they can all connect you with the finer sensations just underneath them. However, there are some particular sensations that I believe can more quickly impart the experience of what I write.

For example, the next time you find yourself laughing over something that hits your “funny bone,” feel deeply into the overall sensation of the body, the reverberations of what is activating you to laugh. Feel and follow to its source the subtle vibrations moving through the body.

By tuning into and following sensations to finer and finer subtlety, you may find how every sensation is connected with a wider underlying vibration or resonance…and these underlying vibrations have a corresponding sensation that feels vastly wider and more expansive than the superficial “entry point “ sensation.

When your mind is “tuned” into subtle vibrations that move delicately in the central core/channel of the spine, the “spotlight” of your mind is turned inwardly. The intention is to connect with finer and finer sensations…sensations normally ignored because they are so subtle.

With the mind connected to subtlety, you are given glimpses of the flighty, superficial mind ”doing its thing” of bouncing around…but you are not attached to it. You are offered the gift of perspective that is not identified with the superficial, “monkey-mind.”

From this unique perspective of the inwardly flowing attention, the mind can be observed doing its thing of bouncing around, “firing-off” thoughts, memories, etc. However, you observe as though from a distance, without attaching or identifying with them!

From this feeling-centered perspective, you will begin to notice layer upon layers of sensations and subtle reverberations that percolate up into your awareness. All that is required is that you simply hold intention to feel into finer and finer sensations! Not so much any specific sensation, but rather the overall sensation of all that you feel in the moment.

The “overall sensation” of your body begins to then “resolve” or “refine” to a wider resonance (or Hum) that seems to be sourced at the central core or channel of the spine. The sensation is like a microscopic thread vibrating in the spine, creating an uplifting, blissful experience that activates the body to twist and contort spontaneously in dance-like movements, reminiscent of Balinese or belly dance!

Surrendering to the Cosmic Dance, Part IV

Feeling into the overall resonance/vibration of the body takes you to the threshold leading to the vast and oceanic Bliss Resonance. As I’ve mentioned many times before, it is easy enough to feel subtle vibrations/sensations in the body.

Connecting with the “Bliss Resonance” requires going slightly deeper, tuning into what, to me, sounds and feels like the distant humming or buzzing of a beehive…a gentle rumbling of sorts.

An important point here is that this “rumbling” is very quiet at first, more like an intimation of a vast inner space. I reiterate this because it is easy for the mind to seek and expect the large, “big bang” kind experience.

However, when feeling into subtle sensations, the suggestion here is to tune into the finest and usually ignored sensations that vibrate on the farthest periphery of awareness. This is not difficult…it just requires a shift in how we feel into our bodies, a different mindset regarding sensations that we normally do not pay much attention to.

I believe one of the most important mindset shifts is this: There are no insignificant sensations! Any sensation, when felt and tracked to its underlying resonance, can take you beyond the threshold of familiar vibrations, connecting you with the infinitely subtle and yet primal Bliss Resonance!

Focusing the Mind for Deeper Meditation, Part VII

Turtle Medicine - Live in Peace Art by Bruce Manaka

Turtle Medicine – Live in Peace Art by Bruce Manaka

The overall sensation of the body during periods of meditation practice resolves to an awareness of an underlying vibration, a gentle “hum.” This is a feeling experience that has a way of focusing the mind to moments of one-pointed attention.

Perhaps a more accurate depiction is that the easily distracted and active mind is rendered silent as it is “gripped” by the inwardly felt resonance of the “Hum.” During these moments of one-pointed attention, of “no-thought,” there is only the visceral experience of the subtle currents of “Life Force.”

The mind/consciousness that is “caught” in the currents of Life Force (the awakening Kundalini), experiences a different perspective with its sense of self and the normally active and easily distracted mind. It is able to observe dispassionately the rising and falling of thoughts…with fleeting moments of “no-thoughts.”

In other words, it is able to observe the mind for what it is: an energetic vortex of energy connected with the body that in normal waking state is constantly “firing-off” thoughts, memories, desires, like/dislikes, etc. It is able to observe without attaching to them!

The mind that is held in the “current” of the underlying “Hum” of the body easily goes into meditative trance. Its perspective changes from outward focus to inward focus that locks into the ever-deepening sensations of subtle vibrations.

Although the process of connecting with the subtle currents of the inwardly flowing Life Force (Kundalini) is simple enough, it may seem like the most difficult thing to do…until you allow yourselves to simply feel what you feel in the moment…and then to go slightly deeper.

The going “slightly deeper” is important in that there is a subtle shift in the mind and body that takes place. There is a focusing affect that occurs, along with a bodily sensation. This is subtle and the mind may not want to pay attention to something so mundane and simple.

However, I believe everyone has the ability to notice this transition and my suggestion here is to hold intention to explore this seemingly uninteresting transition. The very intention and act of exploring nuances of vibration in the body allows an opening or entryway to deeper and deeper subtleties of the energetic field of the body.

Focusing the Mind for Deeper Meditation, Part III

The mind’s habit of wanting to define and distill meaning to all experiences, even ones of a transcendent nature, can get in the way of going deeper into the subtle vibrations of the energetic field of the body.

The constant mind “chatter” seems to be a “symptom” of earth and body density. At least in my experience, when I just observe my mind, there is a constant “firing off” of thoughts, memories, desires, likes/dislikes, etc. Mental activity of all kinds!

This is what the mind seemingly cannot help but do when caught in the strong tidal pull of Earth density. If there is no intention or inclination to explore beyond the “matrix” of the worldly resonance we find ourselves in, then there is not much chance to experience states of consciousness beyond the proverbial “corner” that we “paint ourselves into” along with the belief that, “This is the reality of all that is!”

What I believe happens is that the overall vibration of body, mind, psyche and sense of self resonate at a certain range of frequencies…and this overall vibration creates the conscious range of how we experience the world. As long as the predominant frequency range remains within the density of the Earthly dimension, the body/mind/psyche will experience only what is within range of the worldly resonance.

Consider this: during sleep our minds access a very different state of consciousness (or frequency range). The day-to-day world falls away and our minds cease to “process” in the ways that we are familiar with during waking state. The awareness shifts when “tuned” to different resonant fields.

Normally we are not aware of these subtle shifts, such as when we fall asleep, because the patterns of awareness developed over a period of a lifetime makes the transitions a seamless shift from one state of consciousness to another. We fall asleep without noticing the transitional states of consciousness.

Also, because it is so seamless, we may not ever consider exploring the subtle states of consciousness as we fall asleep…or when we sit in meditation. Why would we? Our habitual patterns are so automatic, why would we even consider the subtleties of what we do naturally everyday?

Well, the whole purpose of meditation or mindfulness practice is to be able to focus upon these very fine subtle “transitional” states of consciousness, feeling into what we would normally not consider very interesting or significant.

The Paradox of Subtlety—When Kundalini Comes Like a “Thief in the Night” Part VI

Butterfly-Expansion

Artwork by Bruce Manaka

The play and dance of Kundalini is a most delicate feeling connection with finely nuanced sensations inside what seems to be the central core of the spine. We all have the capacity to feel these “currents” of vibration but miss them for want of “tuning in” slightly below the dense and heavy vibrations of the five senses, as well as with the habitual patterns of thoughts, desires, memories, etc.

There is so much that keeps us “busy” and distracted…engaged with all manner of outer distractions! Even with the intention to turn the attention within during periods of meditation, distractions and patterns of mind can distract us from connecting with the subtle vibrations.

When I look back on all the years of my meditation practice, I believe now that it just did not occur to me how important it was/is to feel into the overall sensation of the body…composed of all the seemingly insignificant sensations.

Now, the “overall sensation” of the body seems to resolve to a resonance or “hum” that, when focused upon, opens the awareness to extremely subtle sensations…the awakening of Kundalini!

As you gain greater facility and familiarity with Kundalini, it becomes more and more a play and dance with subtle forces, a most delicate balance of stillness and movement, of thought and no-thought!

My suggestion here, when feeling into the overall sensation/resonance of the body, to pay special attention to the subtle feeling of sweetness…even if it is just a “grain of sand’s” worth! Remember the paradox of subtlety: what seems to be so small, insignificant, can have huge impact on the consciousness!

The smallest feeling of sweetness, however it shows up for you, can be latched onto and followed to its source. There you will begin to understand and “get” the power (and paradox) of subtlety!

Learning to Transmute Desires, Part IV

BruceManakaArt

What do I mean by the “underlying vibration” of the body? When sitting in meditation pose, the mind can easily focus upon the overall sensation of the body. Now, with the intention to feel slightly deeper into subtle vibrations, the overall sensation of the body can be felt as a “wave” or “field” of vibration.

This is a delicate balance point, during which the mind, if it does not “get” the importance or significance of continuing to feel into finer and finer vibrations, may lose the connection and momentum to experience the primal “magnetic/contorting” flow of Life Force that lies just below the surface of our familiar states of consciousness.

By going slightly deeper into subtle sensations, there is a visceral experience of exquisitely fine forces at play in our bodies and especially in the spine. The paradox is that, in my opinion, it doesn’t require years and years of meditation practice or any superhuman feats of concentration.

However, in my experience, I spent years and years in meditation practice without making deep connection with the subtle Life Force (Kundalini) because I did not truly “get” the importance of feeling deeper and deeper into seemingly insignificant sensations…until they resolved to the overall resonance of the body.

My mind was busy with meditation practice/technique…disconnected from truly feeling deeply. Of course, the purpose of meditation technique is to connect the awareness with subtle vibrations/sensations and the Divine Spirit…but in looking back at my “practice,” I realize now that I created a thin “veil” that insulated me from feeling deeply.

Perhaps it was not so much a problem of meditation technique, but rather my non-consideration of feeling deeply. I believe there was also an issue of my “day-to-day” mind and habitual patterns that stayed within bounds of what was familiar and safe, no matter how much and how long I meditated.

I am also very much aware that it is not enough to instruct myself or anyone else to “feel deeper and deeper” into subtle vibrations. The connecting piece, the “Aha!” moment occurs when you truly “get” and viscerally feel that any sensation (no matter how seemingly insignificant) can be felt in relation to a wider and wider vibration or resonance of feeling. There is also a noticing of how the mind will automatically go into trance states…that focuses upon finer and finer vibrations/sensations.
