Kundalini Bliss Resonance, Part II

Sometimes the body and mind need to be warmed-up in order to get into the flow of creativity, into the flow of the ingoing trance states. The use of rhythm and repetition can be of great help. For instance, the repetition of certain words, like “Divine,Divine, Divine, Divine….etc.” while rhythmically and gently moving the body (dance-like) can be used to quickly and easily enter the first stages of meditative trance and the flow of creativity…and with the Bliss Resonance.

The use of rhythm and repetition is a way to “prime-the-pump” of the mind to connect with the subtle sensations of the Life Force…and this connection is a delicate balancing act of tuning into what feels like an underlying resonance of all sensations together…felt as one overall sensation…one Hum.

This initial connection need not be a “Big Wow, knock your socks off” kind of transformative experience. The important point here is to feel the overall vibration/sensation of the body…and to notice the inward focusing shifts of the mind as it notices subtlety of sensations (however slight).

This initial connection with subtlety need only be a simple noticing of the inward flowing of the mind…as opposed to the usual and habitual outward flowing mind. Now, the “simple noticing of the inward flowing mind” creates a reference point, an inner acknowledgment that gives the mind a knowingness in how to go deeper and deeper into the subtle currents of the body, especially in the spinal currents.

Dance of Well Being

IMG_0020

Repetitive movement, such as while walking, dancing, or running, creates an ongoing flow of sensations that can be felt even when the movement has been stopped. The vibrations continue on, reverberating, echoing through the body and can be tracked or sensed to extremely subtle depths.

Similarly, the sensations of laughter, giggles and smiles can be felt to finer and finer levels of subtlety.

What can you do with this sensitivity? Well, explore for yourself. The waves of sensations that play upon the sheerest fabric of your awareness is a most luxurious, ecstatic experience!

But do not take my word for it. Again, explore for yourself. Follow sensations to the finest balance point of awareness. Follow the prompts of the sensations as they move wave-like and pulse-like through the body in finer and finer vibrations.

As you continue to listen and to feel deeper and deeper into sensation, surrender happens when you allow the body to move/dance, first in micro-movements…and then in contortions that result from the buildup of subtle ecstatic energies that flow in the cavernous depths just below all vibrations.

For example, when listening to music that activates within you the desire to dance, as you feel into the sensations moving through the body, the feelings can be a kind of twisting, spiraling, contorting of the body that seems to squeeze the feel good juices as though through every cell of the body.

The feeling this imparts is one of extreme well being, pleasure, of being in love, of being inspired to play, dance, draw, sing…to just enjoy being, to enjoy the simple act of breathing!

Music to Activate the Bliss Centers in the Spine

IMG_0186

Do you ever listen to certain songs that you cannot get enough of, playing them over and over again? It is like the body, mind, spirit, emotions, etc. seem to receive a kind of sustenance from them.

I’m remembering a particularly intense time in my life when I played Sarah Brightman’s “Time to Say Goodbye” over and over on my cd player. It was one of those CDs that I just could not get enough of. And it just so happened that, during that time, I was saying goodbye, leaving the monastic community that I had belonged to for 19 years.

One day, months later, it seemed that I had had my fill. I put the CD down and have not played it since. It was as though my body, mind and psyche craved the particular melodies, lyrics and overall resonance of the songs…until I had my fill.

Lately, I’ve been attracted to non-English speaking songs and artists, because the sounds of different languages seem to “tickle” or “activate” different cravings/desires/inspiration/pleasure centers of my mind and brain.

For the last couple of months, I’ve been listening to Sara Tavares, especially her “Ess Amor” and “muna Xeia.” Those songs, for me fall into the category of “so beautiful that they hurt.” I do not understand the meaning of the lyrics, but I like/crave certain sounds and overtones of what she sings.

When I listen to music, I feel for the sounds and resonances that vibrate/activate the pleasurable “feel good” centers in the spine. In this way, certain music has been hugely beneficial in maintaining well-being and for deepening sensitivity to inspiration and the bliss resonance.

I seek to connect with those who, like me, feel they have been “charged” to hold and ground the Bliss Resonance for Mother Earth. We Are Meant to Dance! Part 2

IMG_0375

Went to last night’s Ecstatic Dance, something I’ve not been able to do regularly of late. I realized how much I miss it, how important dance has been in helping me to connect with the very fine Bliss Resonance that I speak so often of in my blog posts.

In dance, it is easy to connect with the waves of “feel good” juices in the body. Now, something interesting: I notice that certain types of sounds and their overtones can be tracked to very deep places in the body, especially in the areas of the spine. Physical vibration that can be felt in finer and finer subtlety. For me (and it might be different for others), certain sounds of the voice, flute, didgeridoo, violin and sitar especially have a way of vibrating the innermost areas of the spine.

This morning, as I listen to the bamboo flute as played by Steve Gorn in his piece “At Ease,” it is easy to follow the vibration of the sounds into the spine, where the build-up of the Bliss Resonance then happens of itself. The natural movement of the body is a kind of contortion of the spine, a squeezing sensation that moves bliss through the body.

It just requires an initial recognition of what is activating, nudging us to move in resonance with the music. Have you ever wondered why most young people (perhaps not all), loves to dance? Of course there might be the obvious wanting to meet potential mates. Music, sex, dance…it all gets mixed into the cauldron of our primal urges/desires.

By tuning into that very fine, activating nudge/desire that moves us to dance or have sex, therein lies the conscious connection with the Bliss Resonance. When you make that visceral, conscious connection, everything changes…

We Are Meant to Dance!

IMG_0376

The human body is such an amazing creation! We were made to dance, to move in rhythm with the heartbeat of Nature, with the music we love…because it feels so freakin’ good to do so!

My recent mix of favorite artists: Sarah Tavares, Adriana Calcanhotto, Habib Koite, Fatoumata Diawara and Marisa Monte, to me when I listen and feel their music, the vibrations/overtones/resonance of their voices have a way of “squeezing” the “feel good” juices as though through every cell of my body.

Have you ever heard someone express someone’s artistry of voice as being “So beautiful that it hurts?” So beautiful that we cry? Scream? The above mentioned artists do that for me.

Children have such an abundance of physical energy that they usually have a natural ease and grace with dancing. Their expression of movement through dance comes as a joyful overflow of energy…if the natural connection with their bodies hasn’t been shamed or censored out of them.

As we grow older, our dancing becomes more structured. We want to learn dance moves, styles, etc. It is safer to dance in ways that are within acceptable boundaries and styles. On dance floors. In the safe container of other dancers.

I admire people who feel free enough to dance at bus stops, on the street, at the workplace, with or without music…just for the joy of dancing!

Until that day comes when I feel that kind of freedom, I have a way to play/dance with the feel good juices of music, whether sitting, standing or laying down. It starts with feeling for that delicate, activating, blissful sensation in the body that wants to move to the rhythms of the music being listened to. As you follow the sensations, pay attention to how the energy wants to move, how it wants to position the body in ways that magnifies the sensation. This is the point at which the palate of sensations expands dramatically. The inner dance becomes like a gigantic smile or giggle moving ecstatically through the spine and body!

More on this later…

Lessons from the Flu – Part 2

My recent bout with the flu (which I’ve completely recovered from) has been a reminder to me that when the body is unwell, it is very difficult to enjoy things that ordinarily gives great joy and/or pleasure: Listening to my favorite music. Sitting by a beautiful river. Walking in Nature. Nope! Nope! Nope! Doing art, playing music, singing. Nope! Nope! Nope!

As I’ve mentioned before, pain/illness is like a dimmer switch turning down the “feel good” juice in the body…and the natural enjoyment level of what I might consider beautiful, sublime, wonderful, fun, etc. seems to get turned off completely, overpowered by the primal, activating desire to simply be rid of pain.

There seems to be a built-in mechanism or consciousness in the body that moves us towards balance, homeostasis, feelings of wellness. Now, even when the body is well, there is a natural desire to move towards harmonious environments and away from dissonant, distracting ones. For example, it is far easier to enjoy a sense of well being while in a quiet setting (like in the woods), as opposed to being in a place surrounded by leaf blowers, nail guns, jackhammers, etc.

If we tune into, follow the sensations of well being, the “feel good” vibration in the body, it can be felt/experienced as a kind of expanding pressure in the body, like the positive air pressure in a greenhouse. This energy, mojo, prana, bliss, whatever you want to call it, moves with infinite subtlety of vibration through the body and seems to know how to “posture” and move the body as a way to magnify/expand the depths of its creative expression.

Again, when the body is unwell (as with the flu), although the connection with our mojo, the Bliss Resonance in the body is turned down (if not off), a conscious, “Aha!” moment of recognizing it coming back online can be established as the body begins to regain energy.

After illness, when the body has been purged of toxins and has gotten its much needed rest, during that time of energy uptake, the sensitivity to subtle vibrations of the Bliss Resonance as it once again reseats in the body is very high. This allows an opening/opportunity to make deep acquaintance and connection with the serpentine dance of creation!

Lessons from the Flu

IMG_0363

I noticed something when I had the flu last week. My enjoyment of things I normally love doing seems to get turned off, like a dimmer switch being turned down. Listening to my favorite music, drawing, dancing, etc. gets switched off…and the body/mind just wants to sleep, rest. It is like my connection with beauty, with inspiration gets turned off.

The “feel good” feeling, the Bliss Response in the body can still be tuned into I noticed, but the “gravitational pull” of the body’s need for sleep and rest just seemed too strong. This may sound obvious, but it seems that a certain baseline of health or energy level must exist in order to be in tune with the Bliss Response in the body.

When engaged in any kind of creative work (painting, drawing, writing, playing music, listening to music, dancing, etc.), if you pay attention to the sensations of your body, you may find a kind of pleasant or even pleasurable vibration moving through the body. The subtlety of sensations becomes then a playground for creative inspiration.

When well, the body has an amazing capacity for creative inspiration, for tuning into exquisitely fine sensations, delighting on the balance point of the body’s resonance with Bliss.

After having gone through a bout with the flu, the body, having been purged of accumulated toxins, along with getting plenty of rest, the rising energy level seems to be accompanied by a return of the “feel good” juice, the Bliss Response… the natural state of well being…a clearness of body and mind that supports the state of wonderment and enjoyment of the world!

The body is an amazing, infinitely creative, Bliss generating machine! It was not meant to be an instrument of torture! In my “Ecstatic YOU!” mentorship program, I share some of the ways in which I’ve connected with the conscious and creative currents (Kundalini) that surrounds and permeates the body.

My primary approach is through the use of sound and their overtones. All that is required is an open heart and deep feeling. If you are interested in connecting with, switching on these subtle currents in your body, please contact me for a free consultation to see if we would be a good fit to work together!

Mindfulness as Dance/Play/Romance

BruceManakaArt4

Mindfulness is a way to tune the awareness immediately to the overall resonance of the moment, to the awareness of “how I feel in this moment.” From this information we are then able to make choices that are more in alignment with how we wish to feel. We humans, if even slightly introspective, will usually want to feel expansive, happy, loving, etc.

Mindfulness accepts whatever feelings comes up, tuning into the overall sensations that arise in the body, along with any corresponding thoughts.

Now here is the great value of mindfulness: when the attention is placed fully on the sensations of the body, following to finer and finer subtlety of vibration, the mind releases its tight hold on thoughts and the thinking process that oftentimes goes ’round and ’round, holding the mind in stories of  “why I feel so ____ (fill in the blank).”

Something interesting happens, besides helping us to “chill out.” It seems that just by placing our attention on any part of the body, the energy and feeling grows/magnifies in that area of the body. The natural movement of mind is then to expand into the “opening” created.

The sensation of this expansion, I believe is the birthplace of creativity. When followed to deeper and deeper subtlety, the feeling moves the body to dance, to sing, to create music, art, etc.

It is easy to miss the benefits of mindfulness (as well as meditation) when “practiced” as  disciplines or techniques. The mindset and approach of one who “practices” discipline and techniques oftentimes does not include the knowing and wisdom of when to release discipline and technique.

When the deeply subtle connection is made with the blissful life force in the spine, the “practice” of mindfulness or meditation no longer has meaning as it becomes more of a dance/play/romance with the creative force moving through the body.

Creativity, Enchantment and Sacred Space

Bruce Manaka ArtF0582

Everything that I do revolves around my play with “Creativity, Enchantment and Sacred Space;” and it is through the relationship that I have with the Child within that I learn to flow with Creativity, live in the dimension of Enchantment and foster Sacred Space. Very simply, The Child invites me to “Come out and play.”

When I speak of “Child” I mean the inner archetype or energy of creativity that flows within. That inner child can also be our connection to the Mother/Father Divine. When we allow ourselves to connect energetically with the Child, the energy then wishes to express creatively through the unique channel of our lives. I use sound, voice (overtone singing), rhythm, dance, movement, art (writing and drawing), playing music as a way for the creative energy to express. The more I allow (without mental editing or self-criticism), the more the energy begins to flow easily and effortlessly. The energy flow also becomes joyful, ecstatic, moving like nectar through the body.

Listen to your heart and body…without judgment, without story. Feel! Feel! Feel! Ask any body part what message it wishes to convey to you. Listen and feel.

Bruce Manaka artF0578

This approach of deep listening and feeling is how I conduct my Sonic Ascension events. Sometimes, I have the participants sing and dance their prayers and intentions. It is just a matter of getting out of our own way.

Listen and feel the finest vibrations that play within…they will awaken and help you move energy in the body. The voice especially is a most powerful instrument that connects you with subtle dimensions of consciousness through the energetic doorway of resonance.

Play with the delicate overtones/harmonics of vocal sounds and observe how they affect the body and consciousness.

Bruce Manaka ArtDSCF0577

Very important, have fun! If it’s not fun you’re trying too hard! It’s all a dance and play of energy. Singing overtones is the human equivalent of a cat’s purr. The whole body begins to vibrate.

When the Child comes out, many wonderful things can happen. The consciousness goes into deep trance and the vibration of love and bliss begins to be experienced. It is a thing of great Beauty and Enchantment! Have fun!
