Reverberations of the Underlying Bliss Resonance, Part V

When feeling into the overall vibration of the body, you may notice how the focus of  mind flits back and forth, between thoughts and feelings…and a combination of both.

Something I notice during periods of meditation is that the deeper I feel into the fine vibrations of the body, the more there seems to arise a primal “bubbling up” of what at first creates a “feel-good” sensation in the body (and especially in the spine).

This “feel-good” sensation has a way of focusing the mind. Perhaps it is not so much a focusing of mind as it is that the thinking, analytical mind is rendered inactive (or less active). For moments at a time, the mind does not flit around like it is normally accustomed to doing.

The sensation “captures” or “holds” the mind, as though in an energetic “vice-grip.” During such moments, the energy is felt like a current that moves the body spontaneously into certain dynamic postures…and these postures create what I refer to as “contortion energy,” delicious sensations that draw the mind ever-deeper.

The contortion energy, the awakening Kundalini, is the body’s response when attuning with the underlying Bliss Resonance.

Reverberations of the Underlying Bliss Resonance, Part IV

Connecting with the “resonance of bliss” is a feeling experience, a refining process that transforms coarse vibrations into finer and finer sensations. The inner focus of mind happens naturally as you feel into the overall sensation of the body. The process is helped immensely by feeling into the posture of the erect spine.

When the antennae of the heart (of feelings) is finely tuned to subtle vibrations, it is through the subtlety that the wider field of the Bliss Resonance begins to percolate up in the awareness.

Usually when sitting, as during meditation practice, we do not think of or consider all that is involved in keeping the body balanced, with spine erect. It takes the muscles, nervous system, life force, etc. all working together to maintain balance.

Although subtle, there is an overall sensation of the body seated in meditation posture. It is subtle only because we take it for granted and usually do not consider feeling into the play of life force that holds the body in place while seated.

When you take the time to feel into the body while seated, the sensations are hardly subtle. The sensations are easy enough to feel because the flow of energy in certain muscle groups that are required to hold the body erect in seated posture creates vibration….which in turn creates sensation.

My suggestion here is to feel into the overall sensation of the body instead of any specific sensation. The purpose of this is to feel the overall vibration or resonance of the body…which allows you to more easily feel and connect with the underlying Bliss Resonance!

Reverberations of the Underlying Bliss Resonance, Part III

When sitting erect with spine straight, as in meditation practice, notice what happens to the mind’s center of focus. In my experience, there is a “lifting up” sensation that includes the lifting up of the mind. This is all very subtle, but the sensation that occurs when straightening the spine seems to also push the mind upwards.

This lifting up of the mind has a way of focusing the attention at the crown area and spiritual eye. Although this sensation is subtle, it is worth exploring because of the focus of mind that can occur as a result of this uplift of energy/life force.

To me it feels like the focus of mind is “held” in place, as though gripped by the tension of energy that is pushed upwards by the energy that it takes to keep the spine erect.

It seems that it is the sensation of the tension that holds or focuses the mind. If this does not make sense, it is helpful to slightly exaggerate the lifting up of the spine, while feeling deeply into the subtle sensations created. Now, if you hold the gentle to moderate tension long enough, the sensation created in the body is easy enough to feel.

As you feel into the sensation deeply enough, you may notice the “feel-good” sensation rising up in the awareness…and this is the particular sensation that seems to have the power to hold the mind’s focus. It is also this sensation that draws the mind deeper and deeper to what feels like “Center.”

Ultimately, maintaining visceral connection with this “feel-good” sensation creates a dynamic relationship with your experience of “Center,” or “Central Core” of Being.

Reverberations of the Underlying Bliss Resonance, Part II

When you are feeling into finer and finer sensations that reverberate in the central channel of the spine, you may notice how the mind becomes deeply poised upon a most delicate balance point, listening and feeling to the finest vibrations of sound and sensation!

When the body and mind are inwardly directed and “poised” upon the finer nuances of sensations, the consciousness is then primed to go deeper yet into the subtle realms, called by the intimations and echoes of the vastly wider and oceanic Bliss Resonance!

The Bliss Resonance comes at first as an intimation…like listening to the beautiful strains of a song played in the far distance… like enjoying the atoms of a most subtle fragrance wafting in the air from a garden far away!

I believe that the body and nervous system are uniquely equipped to connect with the finest vibrations, echoes and reverberations of the Life Force that flows through the energetic field of consciousness.

It seems to require a shift in our feeling perspective. From outward focused feelings to inward focused feelings. From feelings that focus upon density (of body and emotions) to feelings that focus upon subtlety (of intuition and intimations).

As I’ve mentioned before, it is not difficult to experience the fine vibrations/sensations that bubble up in the channel of the spine and elsewhere in the body. However, when the “antennae” of your feelings are open wide enough, you will then be receptive to the deeper resonance that comes first through intuition and “intimations,” the experience of the “soundless sound!”

Reverberations of the Underlying Bliss Resonance, Part I

Cosmic Mother II, art by Bruce Manaka

Cosmic Mother II, art by Bruce Manaka

When feeling into the overall sensation of the body, while holding intention to connect with finer and finer vibrations, the mind goes deeper and deeper into what may feel like the central core or channel of the spine.

This process is simple enough in that it just requires what you are already familiar with: your feelings. The crux of the process though is in feeling just the vibrations…while relaxing the thinking, analytical mind.

In other words: feeling the subtle sensations without the distracting currents of thoughts, memories, etc. This need not be perfectly done…just enough to get moments of sensations/vibrations minus the “bouncing around” of thoughts and memories.

Someone recently remarked to me that she was still not able to feel the “subtle currents” in the spine. She understood well enough the concepts of being in the moment, feeling subtle sensations, spinal currents, Kundalini, etc.

Now, when I asked her what she experienced when she relaxed and felt deeply into her body, into the overall sensation of “Being,” she said she was able to feel a vibration, “like a buzzing.”

However, beyond that, she could not seem to go deeper. I mentioned to her that using the same process that led to her experience of the “buzzing” would lead to a deeper and deeper connection with the vastly wider and transformative “Bliss Resonance.”

In other words, by feeling slightly below the surface of what you feel in the moment and then continuing the process of going “slightly deeper,” you will inevitably come to experience sensations that are below the range of familiar vibrations/sensations.

Once you “get” how simple the process truly is, your visceral experience of feeling into sensations that you would normally not pay much attention to creates an open invitation for you to explore ever-more deeply.

Also, when the “antennae” of your feelings begin to tune into finer and finer vibrations, you will also receive intimations of a vastly wider resonance that seems to reverberate just below the surface of what you are experiencing in the moment.

This reverberation is the underlying Bliss Resonance!

Surrendering to the Cosmic Dance, Part XVI

The centermost “channel” of the spine, when focused upon and deeply felt, creates a unique sensation and effect in the body. The sensation is like a fine thread vibrating inside the spine, which in turn activates the body to move in certain ways in order to accommodate the buildup of energy (the awakening Kundalini) in the spine and body.

Some of these adjustments are done in “micro-movements.” Perhaps a very slight twist of the neck or spine, or a subtle contraction of particular muscle groups, etc. These slight adjustments are activated by the body’s natural and intuitive response to the increased flow of energy (Life Force) in the body.

It is very much like a dance and play of fine energies in the body (and especially in the spine)! The visceral experience of this “dance” can only be described in metaphors… like “Divine Nectar” being squeezed through the spine and every cell of the body!

To me, this internal “squeezing” of energies seems to be a refinement process, one that distills “essence” from the breath and body. The “squeezing” movements, the push/pull contractions and expansions of the Life Force (Kundalini) is all a play and dance of energies that resolves to a most delicate balance of body, mind and psyche!

Surrendering to the Cosmic Dance, Part XV

There are many subtle sensations connected with the breath. For example, take a deep breath, exhale and keep the breath out until you begin to feel a slight discomfort. Breathe in deeply and feel the relaxation and relief that comes over the body.

Notice that the visceral experience of relaxation and relief can be followed deep into what may feel like the areas of the gut and spine. Understand that the whole purpose of this exercise is to connect you with finer and finer waves of sensations…which, through resonance, connects you with the underlying and primal Bliss Vibration!

As you begin to tune into and familiarize yourself with the inward focus on these subtle sensations, you may first notice gut feelings, intestinal sensations, perhaps similar to giddiness.

As you continue to deeply feel into these pulsating, shivering vibrations, they will guide you to what feels like an exquisitely fine “thread” of sensations vibrating deliciously in the centermost channel of the spine!

Surrendering to the Cosmic Dance, Part XIV

There are so many “entry points” for connecting/feeling into subtle energies sourced in the central core of the body (especially in the spine). Once you notice and acknowledge that you can and are able to direct and hold your attention on finer and finer sensations, then you will be surprised at how close and accessible these subtle energies have always been.

You will understand that there are no insignificant sensations, for they can all connect you with the finer sensations just underneath them. However, there are some particular sensations that I believe can more quickly impart the experience of what I write.

For example, the next time you find yourself laughing over something that hits your “funny bone,” feel deeply into the overall sensation of the body, the reverberations of what is activating you to laugh. Feel and follow to its source the subtle vibrations moving through the body.

By tuning into and following sensations to finer and finer subtlety, you may find how every sensation is connected with a wider underlying vibration or resonance…and these underlying vibrations have a corresponding sensation that feels vastly wider and more expansive than the superficial “entry point “ sensation.

Surrendering to the Cosmic Dance, Part XIII

“Surrendering to the Cosmic Dance” refers to the play of Life Force (the awakening Kundalini) in the body, especially in the central core of the spine. As you feel deeper and deeper into subtle sensations, the mind begins to quiet down and the focus on subtlety allows the underlying field of the Bliss Resonance to begin percolating up into the awareness.

This “bubbling up” of the Bliss Resonance creates a buildup of energy/life force that feels like (at least to me) a kind of giddiness. Now, it seems that the deeper you feel into subtlety, the more the buildup of energy occurs in the body…and when this buildup reaches a certain threshold, the body begins to shake and move as a way to manage the overflow of energies.

In the beginning, the energy buildup can be too much for the body and nervous system to handle gracefully. In other words, there might be some flailing and ungraceful contortions of the body.

However, as the body and nervous system grow in strength and capacity, the movements become more and more graceful. The body, mind and Life Force learn to dance together, surrendered to the lead of the Cosmic Dancer, the Awakened Kundalini!

Surrendering to the Cosmic Dance, Part XII

There is no difficulty in feeling into finer and finer sensations. It just requires a slight shift in perspective, one that feels into the “overall” sensation of the body.

Of course it is fine to start with feeling into isolated areas of the body, such as the hands, feet, stomach, heart, etc. As I’ve suggested before, if you clap your hands loudly and then place them on your lap palms up, you can quickly understand and “get” what it means to follow sensations to deeper and deeper levels of subtlety.

The initial strong vibrations begin to slowly fade, but you will notice that you can continue to feel the vibrations going on and on, pretty much indefinitely. Now, this is where the mind might chime in with “So what, big deal!” It resists going deeper because of its habitual patterns of connecting outwardly with the dense and obvious vibrations (thoughts, memories, desires, etc.) in its familiar environment.

My suggestion here is to take notice of the subtle “feel-good” sensations that are very close when your mind is inwardly focused. These sensations might initially be small like a “grain of sand,” but nevertheless accessible when the “antennae” of your feelings are relaxed and inwardly focused.

For example, tense the entire body, take a deep breath, hold the breath and tension for a few counts, then exhale and relax the body. Notice that in exhaling and releasing tension in the body, there is a subtle but pleasant sensation involved…a “feel-good” sensation!

By following,/tracking this “feel-good” sensation to deeper and deeper levels of subtlety, you will experience and “get” its connection with the underlying field of the Bliss Resonance!
