When the Bliss Resonance begins to “bleed through” in your growing sensitivity to subtle sensations, at first the feeling may be a simple “feel good” experience. I mention this because the mind can easily get in the way with its expectations, beliefs and assumptions around the concept of “Bliss Resonance.”

The mind, in seeking and expecting the big experiences of Bliss, Samadhi, Satori, etc., will most likely miss the infinitely subtle reverberations that are entry points to the wider experience that the soul longs for.

As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, these “infinitely subtle reverberations” are easy enough to feel, but the mind may balk at the idea of feeling into sensations that it considers mundane and inconsequential.

The suggestion here is to simply feel the overall sensation of all that you feel in the moment, with intention to follow/track sensations to finer and finer subtlety. Understand that any resistance of the mind to simply feel in the moment will keep the mind on the surface, easily distracted by thoughts, memories and desires.

However, by going even slightly below superficial sensations, you may notice how the mind can be held in place by its focus on subtle vibrations. Although fleeting, the experience conveys the power of the feeling state (not emotions) to hold the mind in one-pointed focus.

The perspective changes from mind-centered to feeling-centered. As you go deeper into subtle sensations, this is where the “bleed-through” of the Bliss Resonance can be experienced.

It seems that by simply feeling into the fine vibrations/sensations of the body, the awareness tunes into the exquisitely subtle current of the Bliss Resonance, which is the primal/foundational vibration that permeates and surrounds the field of the body!

Again, there are no insignificant sensations when it comes to the approach of following vibrations that move through the body. Every breath (the inhale and exhale), every movement, posture, body function, yawning, stretching, etc., all create subtle sensations in the body that can be followed/tracked to finer and finer points of visceral experience.

Allowing yourselves to feel deeper and deeper into these seemingly mundane functions of the body requires a shift in perspective that moves away from mind-centered to feeling-centered.

When feeling deeper and deeper into any sensation, the natural “direction” of awareness is towards the wider “field” of vibration/sensation. For example, upon awakening in the morning, as you yawn and stretch the body, the reverberations of the yawn continue on long afterwards.

Now, as you continue tracking sensations to finer and finer subtlety, notice the wider expanse of the underlying (or overall) vibration of the body. Understand that following subtlety opens the awareness to wider and wider vibratory fields!

At first, the mind may distract you away from going deeper into subtlety, but as you become more familiar with the “dance” of subtle vibrations in the body, you will find your awareness “held” for longer and longer periods by what begins to “bleed through”: the Bliss Resonance!

Surrendering to the Cosmic Dance, Part IV

Feeling into the overall resonance/vibration of the body takes you to the threshold leading to the vast and oceanic Bliss Resonance. As I’ve mentioned many times before, it is easy enough to feel subtle vibrations/sensations in the body.

Connecting with the “Bliss Resonance” requires going slightly deeper, tuning into what, to me, sounds and feels like the distant humming or buzzing of a beehive…a gentle rumbling of sorts.

An important point here is that this “rumbling” is very quiet at first, more like an intimation of a vast inner space. I reiterate this because it is easy for the mind to seek and expect the large, “big bang” kind experience.

However, when feeling into subtle sensations, the suggestion here is to tune into the finest and usually ignored sensations that vibrate on the farthest periphery of awareness. This is not difficult…it just requires a shift in how we feel into our bodies, a different mindset regarding sensations that we normally do not pay much attention to.

I believe one of the most important mindset shifts is this: There are no insignificant sensations! Any sensation, when felt and tracked to its underlying resonance, can take you beyond the threshold of familiar vibrations, connecting you with the infinitely subtle and yet primal Bliss Resonance!

Surrendering to the lead of the “Cosmic Dancer” is similar to the idea of “losing oneself in dance.” Now, for purposes of going deeper and deeper in meditation, it just requires feeling into the subtle sensations of the body…while sitting still.

At a certain point, you may notice how the body will automatically and spontaneously adjust in “micro-movements.” Even with intention to sit perfectly still, you might observe how the body is constantly moving, adjusting in very slight, hardly noticeable increments as a way to maintain balance and to maintain erect posture.

The suggestion here is to observe and feel deeply into these micro-movements that we normally pay little attention to. Follow to their source what is activating or “nudging” the body to adjust.

This develops a fine awareness and attunement with subtle currents and waves of Life Force that move through the body. This is not difficult to do! It just requires noticing what we would normally not pay much attention to.

Going deeper in your connection with the subtle currents in the spine and body, again, is like learning to surrender to the dance…to the lead of the Cosmic Dancer!

This requires feeling just below the surface of familiar sensations…and then going slightly deeper. This develops a sensitivity to subtle vibrations…and ultimately to primal waves and pulsations of the Life Force, the awakening Kundalini!

—Feeling into the overall vibration of the body allows an opening or invitation for you to connect with the underlying “Hum” of the body. This “Hum” also refers to the “Om Vibration” that surrounds and permeates the energetic field of the body.

The overall vibration of the body is easy enough to feel. Tuning into the Om Vibration requires going deeper into the subtlety of vibration, where the “Bliss Resonance” can be connected with.

Initially the Bliss Resonance is a subtle “feel good,” pleasurable sensation, felt deep in the central core of the body/spine. For me, this resonance is just below the overall vibration or “Hum” of the body.

In feeling the overall sensation of the body, it is just a matter of feeling slightly deeper/wider. You may then notice a subtle, gentle “feel good” sensation rising up in your awareness. Again, very subtle at first.

It is important to acknowledge, to lock into your awareness, the subtlety of this sensation that has come into your consciousness. With this awareness, the invitation of the Bliss Resonance is to surrender to the lead of the Cosmic Dancer!

Surrendering to the Cosmic Dance

In learning to focus the mind for deeper meditation, there is a dynamic interplay of mind that occurs with the Life Force. I think of the Life Force as the underlying “Hum” or resonance of the body.

Another way of describing this process is that when the attention is placed on the overall sensation of the body, the mind is given an “opening” or invitation to follow the sensation to finer and finer points of subtlety.

The mind and body then goes deeper and deeper into meditative “swoon,” or connection with the Bliss Resonance. In the beginning, the Bliss Resonance is quite subtle, like drawing closer and closer to a rose garden…at first receiving only intimations and wisps of the sweet fragrances.

However, as you learn to navigate and feel deeper and deeper into subtle sensations, you may notice how the mind and body are affected by the “intimations” and “wisps” of the fine vibrations.

Please understand that you all have the ability to feel into exceedingly fine vibrations. It just requires that you allow yourselves to feel below the surface of familiar sensations…and then continuing to feel deeper and deeper.

In my experience, the process is very much like like learning to dance…surrendering to the lead of the fine, subtle and magnetic push/pull/play of the Life Force!

Focusing the Mind for Deeper Meditation, Part XV

The sensation of the current of Life Force moving in the body (especially in the central core of the spine) naturally and automatically focuses the mind, drawing it within to exquisitely subtle sensations…just like iron filings to a magnet.

Attuning to the vibration/sensation requires a delicate balance between tension and relaxation…as the movement of the Life Force in the central core of the body creates a sensation that activates the body to “contort,” to fall into “swoon.”

Finding the balance point between tension and relaxation is important because, in the beginning, the tension of the body contortion can quickly exhaust the body. As you gain familiarity with the contortion energy, you learn to modulate the buildup of energy without overextending the energy of the body.

As I’ve mentioned many times in previous posts, connecting with the subtle sensations of the Life Force (the awakening Kundalini) is not a difficult process. I realize, though, the immense paradox of how a vibration so close (and obvious), can remain seemingly hidden, unobtainable for a lifetime(s)!

The subtle sensation is available, accessible through every movement, every posture…in yawning, in stretching the body, in every smile, in tears, through sex… through every body function!

The connecting piece, which I believe is also the “missing ingredient” that opens the feeling connection with the subtle sensations (at play in the central core of the spine), is surrender…to the dance.

Not a passive surrendering to any and all vibrations, but a listening, feeling and falling (surrendering) towards expansion, towards what imparts an uplift of the heart. In surrendering to the Cosmic Dance, there is a deep release of self to follow the lead of Higher Self!

Focusing the Mind for Deeper Meditation, Part XIV

Please note that in the approach that I use for focusing the mind for deeper meditation, the sole purpose of using music and dance is to connect with the subtle currents in the spine that are easily felt when they align and move in resonance with the music.

Now, once the connection with the subtle “current” of Life Force (Kundalini) is made, I believe at some point the outer music can be dispensed with. When the inner “current” or “motor” of the Life Force is strong, then you want to feel deeper and deeper into the resonance of the “music” that plays within.

As blissful/pleasurable it is to feel into the subtleties of music/dance, understand that this approach is primarily to “get you through the door” so-to-speak to connect with the subtle currents. Once you are viscerally connected with these currents, then you want to continue refining and distilling your connection with the Life Force.

This is where I believe meditation technique is ultimately (and finally) helpful. As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, in my experience, the practice of technique could not bridge the gap for me to connect with the very subtle currents in the spine. However, once the connection was made, then technique helped immensely.

I use the word “technique” loosely, as once the connection is made with Life Force (Kundalini), technique is not so necessary, but it does seem to create a way to “ground” and stabilize the energies that can at times feel too wild, primal and chaotic.

Focusing the Mind for Deeper Meditation, Part XIII

In learning to focus the mind for deeper meditation, a refining process of the body/mind/psyche takes place, one in which the mind does not direct the process.

At least, in my experience, the mind initially takes part in making intention, saying prayers, preparing the space, etc. At a certain point, however, you might notice that the mind continues to do what it does: bounces around, engaging with thoughts, desires, memories, etc.

I find it difficult to focus mind using the mind. Perhaps it is possible, but I’ve not had much success with this approach. My approach to focusing the mind ties in with the previous post of feeling into dance…feeling into the pleasure of dance.

However, for purposes of learning to focus the mind to “one-point,” where all distractions, all thoughts, memories and desires fall away, the process does not lead to the movements of dancing, but at most includes subtle “micro movements.”

Here is the process: When feeling into the pleasure of dance, instead of actually getting up to dance, deeply feel into the pleasure of what is activating you to move in rhythm with the music.

Notice that as you tune deeper and deeper into the activating impulse of the dance, you may also witness exquisitely subtle and spontaneous “micromovements” of the body as it naturally adjusts to the buildup of energy in the spine.

These micro movements of the body are adjustments we normally do not pay much attention to, as they usually happen at a subconscious level…automatically.

By observing/witnessing these fine adjustments of the body, we allow ourselves an opening to experience the wider field of the Bliss Resonance!

What is this “sublimely delicious” experience that I spoke about in the previous post? I think of it simply as “essence.” It is the subtle vibration that is just below surface sensations of the body.

It is the overall sensation of all that is felt in the moment, a distillation of vibration resolving to a point of subtlety that holds the body/mind/psyche in one-pointed balance with the Bliss Resonance.

Another way of saying this: primal gut/intestinal feelings felt and tracked to the central core of Being. In both descriptions, the important aspect is the process of refining, distilling, going below surface sensations…to the activating “essence” of what flows through the body.

Feeling deeper and deeper into subtlety is the refining process. The body/mind/psyche has the ability to track sensations to deepest points of subtlety. In the process, the awareness becomes exquisitely balanced/poised…as though balanced upon the tip of a needle…or “razor’s edge.”

As I’ve mentioned so many times before, this process is not difficult…no more so than dancing! The crux of the matter, though, is in surrendering to the lead of how the Life Force, the awakening Kundalini, wishes to dance in the body…surrendering to the subtle “nudges” of Kundalini dancing through the body, to the “push/pull” play of energies in the central core of the spine!

My suggestion here is this: you most like already know the enjoyment of dance. A deeper connection with what you already feel can be made with the intention to follow/feel deeper and deeper into subtle sensations of your enjoyment.

In other words, follow the trail of subtlety, below the surface enjoyment of what you already feel. Hold and feel just below the surface…and then go slightly deeper!
